Research on the Apacheta micro-basin in Ayacucho has been limited despite its relevance to the region's water resource management. This study, developed by UNSCH researchers using satellite remote sensing and mathematical, physical, and hydrological models, provides scientific foundations on the atmospheric, surface, and subsurface behavior of its wetland ecosystems. Given its vulnerability to climate change and human intervention, the study highlights the need to recognize it as a strategic water recharge zone and the primary supplier to the Cuchoquesera dam, promoting its preservation and conservation for environmental balance and sustainable regional development.
