Description

The study ethnographically analyzes religious imaginaries in Ayacucho surrounding the Niño Nakaq in the Maravillas neighborhood and the Infant Jesus of Prague in the Andrés F. Vivanco market. In the first case, offerings, letters, and rituals expressing the relationship between faith, death, and material symbolism in the Niño Nakaq's urn are described. In the second, the study examines how the cult of the Infant Jesus of Prague articulates beliefs, magic-religious practices, and social cohesion among merchants, influencing their economic life, health, and community relationships.
