Description

This collective book, published to commemorate the Bicentennial of the Battle of Ayacucho (1824), gathers articles and essays that review the regional antecedents of the independence process, the final campaign and the patriot triumph in Quinua, as well as their subsequent repercussions.

Mainly compiled by researchers from the National University of San Cristóbal de Huamanga, located at the historical epicenter of that conflict, the volume not only highlights the participation of Creoles and indigenous people in the feat but also reflects on the construction of cultural identities, memories, and imaginaries over the last 200 years. Additionally, it connects this heritage with the current critical political and social situation, warning about the challenges facing democracy and social justice in contemporary Peru.
