The book brings together eleven articles written by thirteen students from different academic programs at the National University of San Cristóbal de Huamanga, focusing on popular participation in the independence and the Battle of Ayacucho. It highlights the role of indigenous people and Morochucos, as well as the bravery of women such as María Parado de Bellido and Ventura Ccalamaqui, questioning patriarchal and reductionist views of history. In addition, it analyzes the legal implications of the Capitulation, the construction of national identity, and the challenges the Republic has faced to the present day.
