Description
Climate change, understood as a profound mutation of the climatic regime (Latour, 2019), constitutes an unprecedented challenge for societies and ecosystems. From an anthropological perspective, this study analyzes the popular epistemology of climate (Roncoli et al., 2016) in the community of San Juan de Tambobamba (Ayacucho), where inhabitants perceive and interpret climatic changes by combining scientific discourses, Catholic-Christian traditions, and Andean knowledge. Its impacts are felt in agriculture, water, and daily life, to which they deploy technological, practical, and mythico-religious responses with both modern and ancestral roots.
