Description

The historiography on the Independence and the Battle of Ayacucho has grown within the framework of the Bicentennial, although it is still insufficient, especially regarding anthropological and sociological studies with projections towards the present and future of Peru. This research focuses on the construction and recreation of cultural identities in Ayacucho, analyzed from an anthropological and interdisciplinary perspective through the artistic production of primary and secondary school teachers from the 20th century to the present day. The study understands cultural identity as a complex and often polemical field, but in this case, it is approached from art, avoiding chauvinism, to make visible both explicit symbols and those deeper and more hidden in the collective memory of the people of Ayacucho, while also warning about the effects of globalization in the regional cultural sphere.
